La Morra

La Morra clings to a hilltop in a panoramic position towards the Alps and the Langhe, and it probably has very ancient origins, since the Romans are said to have built their villas here. According to the legend, even Julius Caesar, coming back from Gaul, wanted to stop there to taste its prestigious wines. The village has preserved the medieval fan-shaped plan with steep, narrow streets paved with cobblestones.

Walking through these lanes, you can admire some jewels of the Piedmontese baroque, such as the church of San Rocco and the church of San Sebastiano, reaching then Piazza Castello. From this square you can enjoy a wonderful view over green hills dotted with villages, castles, bell towers, towers and a sea of vineyards. In this square you will find a monument dedicated to the Italian Vinedresser by Munciguerra, a sculptor of Turin.
